Abraham Elmazahi is a criminal defense attorney with Lopez Law Group, representing individuals facing misdemeanor and felony charges throughout Florida, including DUI, drug offenses, violent crimes, and other serious criminal allegations. A former prosecutor, Abraham brings a deep command of constitutional law and courtroom strategy to every case, aggressively protecting his clients’ rights under the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments.
Before joining Lopez Law Group, Abraham served as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted cases in both county and circuit courts. In that role, he argued numerous motions, including motions to suppress evidence and dismiss charges, and tried cases through verdict. This firsthand courtroom experience gave him an insider’s understanding of how prosecutors build criminal cases, where investigations often fall apart, and how constitutional violations can be exposed and leveraged in defense of the accused.
Today, Abraham uses that prosecutorial insight to anticipate the State’s strategy, challenge unlawful searches and seizures, contest coerced statements, and hold the government to its burden of proof at every stage of the case. He is particularly skilled at identifying Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment violations, issues that frequently make the difference between dismissal, reduced charges, or conviction.
Earlier in his career, Abraham worked on federal matters with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, strengthening his understanding of complex criminal investigations and federal procedure. He also served in the United States Senate, working on judiciary and national security issues, experiences that sharpened his appreciation for due process and the real world consequences of government overreach.
Abraham earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Barry University School of Law, where he served as a Senior Editor of the Barry Law Review and received a Constitutional Law Award. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from Kean University.
Abraham approaches every case with the understanding that a criminal charge can affect every aspect of a client’s life, their freedom, their family, and their future, and he fights relentlessly to protect all three.
Originally from New Jersey, Abraham enjoys spending time outdoors with his dog, Penny, and is a lifelong automotive enthusiast.
